Just around the corner is the biggest scouting event at the National level. The National Jamboree is held every 4 years at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia. Over 30,000 scouts will descend on this high adventure camp where they get a chance to experience whitewater rafting, shooting sports, zip lines, mountain biking, rappelling and much more. This event lasts 10 days!
With every National Jamboree, the BSA works hard to improve on the previous events. This year, on top of all the fun, they are providing an experience to help broaden a scout’s leadership skills. In short, this is an event no scout will forget and will talk about it for the rest of their lives.
The Mobile Area Council is putting together a contingent to attend the Jamboree July 21-30, 2021. This contingent will include scouts from our boy troops, girl troops, and venturing crews. To be eligible, the scout must be at least 12 years of age by July 20, 2021. We have a great leadership team in place to handle the transportation to and from the Jamboree and to look after these scouts while there.
Scroll down for an application or visit our Facebook page to keep up to date on happenings. National does have scholarships available, but they must be applied for before May 31, 2020.
If you would like to know more, we would be happy to visit your unit’s meeting. We have a Virtual Open House recorded video to answer topic questions.
Yours in Scouting,
2021 National Jamboree Contingent Leader
